Getting Results Through Relationships 🤝

Do you remember your friend group in elementary school?
For my own kids who went to school in the city, they had large class sizes. If they didn't get along with someone, they could simply move their desks.
But my early years looked a lot different. I grew up in a small community in the Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia, and attended a one-room school up until grade three.
When there are only a few kids in each grade, you don't have the option to pick and choose. You had to learn to get along with everyone. Otherwise, you'd be playing at recess completely by yourself
Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to return to that very same one-room school (now a Heritage Centre) to be interviewed by Host Lisa Drader-Murphy for Eastlink’s local cable show, "WOMEN NOW."
Sitting in that historic room and reflecting on the evolution of my career path made me realize how much that childhood experience truly shaped my purpose. I get so much joy out of helping managers smooth out differences and bring out the team’s collective strengths.
Because in the adult world, you can't always just "move your desk" when friction arises.
Success comes from learning how to bridge gaps, understand different perspectives, and work through disagreements together.
What did your early school days teach you about teamwork?
Wishing You Career Success,
